Happy Harry Potter week you all! And since the Potter fever is here again, thought I’d make something awesome to remember the crew, and what a better way to celebrate the last Harry Potter movie than making these adorable pops!
.
This was my very first try on making cake pops. I got the inspiration from Bakerella and have been making more complicated designs since. Really, it felt like unlocking a skill on a game or something. The rest is history. It was kind of intimidating at first, and obviously, I wasn't much of an expert then (well, at least I think I'm a bit better now, ha!)...My cake balls were too crumbly and since I used cake mix for this, the texture was just so unpredictable. That experience led to me to a series of research to finding the "perfect" homemade cake ball recipe. Loved sculpting cakes since finding the best one. The secret is really cake texture and pliability. You have to find the right frosting to cake ratio to be able to sculpt more sophisticated and intricate designs.
While there are so many things in life that I love (rubber duckies, sushi, a good book, dogs, teaching, Michaels 40% off coupons, autumn, quiet mornings), this blog will focus more on my passion for art and food!
